マイクロソフト創立者であるビル・ゲイツが、2009年1月21日（水）、 国際協議会 において、ポリオ撲滅のためにビル・アンド・メリンダ・ゲイツ財団から国際ロータリーに巨額の補助金をさらに追加することを発表しました。
次期会長であるジョン・ケニー氏の、国際アッセンブリでのテーマスピーチです。
光あふれる、南カリフォルニアにある、姉妹クラブのラ・ハブラロータリークラブとの交流は、1982-83年度に始まりました。その後ほぼ毎年、2-3名のロータリアンの子弟を交換学生として、お互いに受け入れてきました。滞在期間は約2週間です。この交流も今年で25年になります。それでは、ラ・ハブラロータリークラブ、現会長のベリンダ・カーン氏からの祝電と、その日本語訳をご紹介します。続いて、本年6月、ロサンジェルスでの国際大会の際に、クラブを訪問し収録してきました、ビデオ・レターをご紹介したいと思います。

Dear Fellow Rotarians,
On behalf of the entire La Habra Rotary Club and myself I send our warmest greetings and congratulations on your 30th anniversary.
We are tremendously proud of the meaningful relationship our clubs share. The good will and friendship that has grown over the years provides a wonderful bridge not only between individuals, but cultures as well.
After meeting your President Ohashi san, I know that he will lead you with great enthusiasm and you have an exciting and fun filled year ahead of you. We wish you all the best during this celebratory year, and we encourage you to continue sharing the wonderful world of Rotary.
